Change Number of Exercises Shown

Up to this point Health Tracker has been keeping all of your exercises in the database but we have not been showing you more than 20. Mark sent me an email and requested that we allow a bit more control over this.  One of his solutions was to allow the user to change the number of exercise entries we show on the Exercise tab.  I chose this one due to its simplicity as well as giving the user more control of the experience.

My expectation would be to publish this version in about a couple of weeks.  Please feel free to provide comments or feedback.

Bariatric patient accomodations

A very nice user Katrina recommended that I add accommodations for people who have been Bariatric patients.  Ultimately we decided that it would be very helpful if we could track food as protein and also track liquid intake.  The changes weren't too dramatic and I hope we can serve a bunch of people who have taken some pretty major steps to reach their own objectives.

I am currently testing these changes and would hope to have them uploaded to the app store no later than 2/27/2012 as version 2.80.

I snagged a few screenies of the features that I hope will make the type of tracking Katrina described possible.  I would love to hear your comments.

Website switch on 9/17/2011

To keep with the new lean / mean approach I have turned off the novelcoder.com/healthtracker website. Oddly that website was considerably more work than the application itself and most of the website work was chasing away the spammers.

For now this blog will be our new permanent home.

If you have suggestions or questions please feel free comment on this blog. I am particularly interested in bugs you might be running into. Fortunately I haven't been presented with many of these lately so I am guessing things are running pretty smoothly.

What's the future of Health Tracker

Health Tracker is in what I consider to be maintenance mode. There are several new features that I would like to add, but none of them are particularly earth shattering. Our tool provides for a small niche of people who are looking for a diary style tracker. The big boys in this space have much deeper pockets and can afford to purchase / build extensive databases.

I was originally offended when I saw a two star review from a free user basically stating that the product NOOM has a much more extensive database. OK so I am still a little offended by her review pointing to a competing product... ( hmm, perhaps I shouldn't have also done the same thing ).

The bottom line is I have been developing software for a few decades and know that we have something useful. If you have fun with our style of product then welcome aboard! If you need something a bit different ask away, I have seen some pretty nice products. ( NOOM and LoseIt are two that I think are pretty cool ).

Version 2.7 is now available

I finally got tired of the very bland text colors that I had going on Health Tracker. So I grabbed a new palette of colors and implemented them into our app. I hope you like them. Feel free to post comments to the blog and tell me what you think.

If you are looking for the old forums site it is still around ( and will be for a little while ) at novelcoder.com. I will no longer be updating the forums. If you don't recall, the problems I ran into with the forums were the hackers, primarily from China, running bots were continuously spamming the forums. I was spending about 30 minutes every day cleaning out the spam. I don't think it was anything personal, just the only forum software available on GoDaddy happened to be the favorite fodder for these types of attacks.

New Site for Health Tracker app

I have decided to move away from a forum based site. Health Tracker users generally don't post to our forums so I am primarily sharing future updates. This blog is an easier format for this.
